The Foster Care Program is a Child Placing Agency licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to care for children ages 0-17. The Program is comprised of foster homes that have been certified by the Child Placing Agency. Priority is given to children under the age of 12, pregnant and parenting teens, and sibling groups. IES offers and coordinates foster family services, partnering with individuals who can provide temporary care for unaccompanied children. We currently have the capacity to serve children in Brownsville, Harlingen and Weslaco. The Agency is responsible for coordinating placement and providing oversight to the foster homes, which are located throughout the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. Care providers ensure that the children in care receive all necessary services according to their individual circumstances.
The Agency strives to provide services that are respectful of the many cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds while also providing the skills necessary for acculturation in the United States. Our teams of professionals offer support to each child in care through specialized services. Trained and experienced foster parents are committed to providing a safe and caring environment for children while they await reunification.
